John Motson (1945–2023)

John Motson was one of England's most iconic football commentators, known for his passionate and meticulous style. He joined the BBC in 1968 and became a lead commentator on Match of the Day from 1971 onwards. Over his illustrious 50-year career, Motson covered 10 FIFA World Cups, 10 UEFA European Championships, and 29 FA Cup finals.
