John Motson (1945–2023)

John Motson was one of England's most iconic football commentators, known for his passionate and meticulous style. He joined the BBC in 1968 and became a lead commentator on Match of the Day from 1971 onwards. Over his illustrious 50-year career, Motson covered 10 FIFA World Cups, 10 UEFA European Championships, and 29 FA Cup finals. His distinctive voice, encyclopedic knowledge, and signature sheepskin coat made him a beloved figure in sports broadcasting. He retired from the BBC in 2018 but remained a revered name in football commentary.

Brian Moore (1932–2001)

Brian Moore was a pioneering English sports commentator and presenter, best known as the "voice of football" on ITV. He began his career in journalism before joining ITV in the late 1960s. Moore was the lead commentator for World Cups from 1966 to 1998 and covered numerous FA Cup and European finals. He also presented The Big Match, ITV's flagship football program, becoming a household name. His calm and authoritative style made him one of the most respected voices in football broadcasting. Moore retired in 1998 and passed away in 2001, leaving a lasting legacy in sports commentary.
